Darryl has been acting as a specialist independent expert witness for Tribunal and Court proceedings in the field of waterproofing defects, design, and installation since 2012. The preparation of expert witness reports including detailed scopes of rectification; participating in mediations and conclaves; and giving evidence in Tribunal or Court proceedings is central to Darryl’s role as Senior Consultant at Building and Waterproofing Reports Australia.

Darryl’s qualification as an expert witness in this field is built on more than 30 years’ experience within the construction industry, which includes identifying waterproofing defects, project managing repairs and hands - on remedial work. In addition, he is heavily involved within the industry in the specification and review of waterproofing systems for new construction projects. His 10 years of experience in structural engineering drafting for domestic and commercial projects and detailing of steel structures gives them a sound knowledge of building design, which is essential to understanding the cause of waterproofing defects, and the appropriate method of rectification.

Phillip Tin is a building consultant with over 20 years’ experience with a design background and a strong foundation in understanding how buildings are constructed, maintained and repaired.

Cognizant that water entry into buildings represents over 70% of building repair claims, for the last 8 years Phillip has focused on understanding how building materials make a building waterproof and how to implement long term building solutions into good design. Phillip has a “hands on” approach to diagnosing water entry and understands that determining the cause of the water entry is instrumental to the cause of the waterproofing defects and appropriate method of remedial repairs.

Involved in writing litigation reports on residential houses, multi-level residential buildings, and commercial buildings, Phillip understands the importance of sound expert advice in building litigation matters.

Jason Pickering

Jason has been specialising in mould remediation, consulting, and reporting on biological hazards for more than 15 years. His background in building started more than 25 years ago, which gives him a solid understanding of building construction, defects and building science. He has acted as an expert witness for Tribunal and Court proceedings in the field of mould remediation, building defects, water and flood damage since 2011. The preparation of expert witness reports including detailed scopes of remediation; participating in mediations and conclaves; and giving evidence in Tribunal or Court proceedings is central to Jason’s role as a Consultant at Building and Waterproofing Reports Australia.

Jason’s qualifications as a hygienist with special focus on biological pollutants is built on many years of experience in the remediation trades as well as specific training and qualifications from some of the world’s leading microbial consulting industry bodies. In addition, he is heavily involved in the training of new entrants into the field of microbial assessment and remediation. This gives him a sound knowledge base coupled with vast hands on experience in the field of mould assessments, remediation, indoor air quality assessments, and rectification.

Doug Browne is a building consultant with over 20 years’ experience within the commercial and residential sectors of the construction industry.

James Nikitakis joins our team as a building consultant with a background of over 17 years in structural and civil engineering.
